Why did it take 11 samples, 18 months, and a global pandemic to finally happen?
The process of coming up with the Filthy Finds Originals was a really long one, longer than we would have liked. We have had the idea of coming up with our own hat essentially from day one, but it just never seemed to come together. However, we had a lot of spare time lately with the coronavirus period and we made it happen.
Our goal here was to create an authentic feeling throwback in every single way, with the most contentious aspect being the shape. It would of been easy to take some design, chuck it on our local embroidery shops promotional line of hats, and try to sell it, but we didn't want that.
With what we have been doing on Instagram for a while now, and the type of hats we have been collecting over the years, we have seen many different hats. Because of this we felt we had a good gauge on what people wanted, and knew what we personally wanted in a hat, and that starts and ends with the shape.
This is what sets the classic corduroy hats apart from the rest right ? They don't have a stupid flat brim on the front, they don't have a super curved brim, they don't sit on the top of your head, they don't look so puffy it appears you're smuggling something under your hat, they honestly just seem to fit perfectly.
So with what we have created and the endless samples and trials we have had made, we believe our line of Filthy Finds Originals have achieved a shape which pays homage to the classic corduroy hats of the past, in a way that isn't tacky or forced. We really hope you guys agree, and if you do, send us a message on one of our socials or our email, and we might chuck you a goodie or two.
